Former Indian cricket captain and respected sports figure Sourav Ganguly collaborated with BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla to suggest India should sever cricket relations with Pakistan after the Pahalgam terrorist attack killed 26 people in India-occupied Kashmir on April 22. The tragic occurrence caused Ganguly great distress because he believed continuing sports relationships became impossible because terrorists targeted innocent people.
Ganguly made his statements during an interview session with Indian television. Ganguly stated without hesitation that India should sever its cricket relations with Pakistan. Strict action is necessary. The occurrence of these incidents repeats annually without any sense of humor. Terrorism cannot be tolerated.”
The Indian ex-cricketer made his statement as India implemented increased diplomatic actions whereby the country banned all live streaming of PSL 2025 in India while instructing its sports officials to cancel every event related to Pakistan.

Since 2012-13 Pakistan conducted their last cricket tour to India for limited-overs matches before bilateral series engagements between these cricket nations ended permanently. Both nations participate in only ICC events following a 2012-13 bilateral series discontinuation.
Security concerns have led India to reject Pakistan tours and the BCCI backs this position by maintaining policies which avoid bilateral matches alongside ICC tournament obligations. During the 2025 Champions Trophy India played its matches exclusively in Dubai without visiting Pakistan for the competition.
